I Jumped Off a Skyscraper in Dubai - XLine Zipline Vlog
There are adventures…
And then there’s throwing yourself off a skyscraper in Dubai.
Today, I took on the world’s longest urban zipline — the XLine Dubai Marina — and documented the entire process from check-in to the final scream-filled launch off a tower 560 feet in the air.
Spoiler: it was fast, loud, hilarious, awkward… and absolutely worth it.
Here’s what the experience is really like.
Finding the XLine Check-In (and Getting Nervous Early)
The vlog starts inside Dubai Marina Mall, where I tried to find the XLine check-in desk. Closer I got, more the nerves kicked in — not because of the jump itself, but because of the awkward pre-jump interview.
You know the one:
“Any last words? Want to say hi to your family?”
Those videos are always cringeworthy, especially for me. And I knew that was waiting at the end of this hallway.
But first — I had to actually find the check-in counter.
I asked a worker for directions:
“Just straight.”
Thanks, friend. Crystal clear.
Turns out the check-in is in Parking Level P2. If you come a little early like they recommend, you’ll have plenty of time to sign waivers, drop off your belongings, and mentally prepare to leap off a skyscraper.
The Safety Talk That Makes You Pay Attention
Once I arrived, the staff walked me through the rules — and trust me, they do not joke around.
They give you a small bag for your belongings and warn:
“Do not attempt to grab anything from the back during the zipline. Something could slip and injure someone below.”
Perfect. Nothing gets your confidence going like hearing that your phone could fall and “kill somebody.”
Next came the quick safety briefing:
170 meters above the ground
80 km/h speeds
1 kilometer of cable
One minute on the line
Free photos & video delivered via email in 2 days
And then the staff hit me with:
“Are you ready?”
“Ready.”
“Okay. Let’s go.”
The Walk Through the Mall… Then Into a Van… Then to the Tower
This is the part most people don’t expect:
The launch platform isn’t inside the mall.
After check-in, the staff guides everyone on a short walk through the mall, out a side door, and into a van.
You load in with your group — everyone jittery, hyped, or silently regretting their life choices — and the van drives you to one of the tall towers overlooking the Dubai Marina.
This is where the real adventure starts.
And just a heads-up: no bathroom breaks after check-in. If you need to go, use the mall restroom before finding the counter.
The Platform: Interviews, Harnesses, and “I’m Ready… I Think”
When we reached the platform, the team did one more round of safety checks and then lined up each person for the harnessing.
Then came my most dreaded part — the pre-jump interview.
A staff member called me forward:
“What’s your name?”
“Alex.”
“Where are you from?”
“Florida.”
“How do you feel right now?”
“Excited and anxious.”
And then the part I feared:
“Would you like to say hi to your family, friends, loved ones?”
“Uh… hi everyone.”
Cringe achieved. Mission accomplished.
Then came the final cue:
“Ready?”
“Super ready.”
“Let’s go.”
The Jump: 560 Feet Above Dubai Marina
They clip your harness into the line, tighten the straps, double-check everything… and then suddenly, you’re horizontal, looking straight down at tiny dots that are actually people.
And then:
3… 2… 1… GO.
The moment you push forward, the world explodes into speed.
You fly across the Dubai Marina at 80 km/h, skyscrapers towering beside you, yachts gliding below, people filming you from balconies.
You’re basically Superman, but louder.
The whole ride lasts about 15 seconds — fast, intense, and over before your brain catches up.
But that shot of adrenaline stays with you long after you hit the brake line.
The Landing Platform: The Rush Hits You All at Once
The moment your harness unclips and your feet return to solid ground, you can finally breathe again.
The landing platform sits right inside Dubai Marina Mall, exactly where you began. You get a moment to catch your breath, laugh a little, and look back at the massive tower you just launched yourself off.
Even though the ride is short, it delivers exactly what you hope for:
Pure adrenaline
Epic views
A safe, controlled environment
Bragging rights forever
And if you brought family or friends, this is where you’ll reunite and show off the shaky videos you filmed during the jump.
So… Is the XLine Dubai Zipline Worth It?
Absolutely.
It’s fast.
It’s fun.
It’s safe.
It’s pure Dubai adrenaline.
And while the ride itself lasts only about 15 seconds, the entire experience — check-in, transport, harnessing, the jump, and the hype — makes it feel so much bigger.
If you love heights, speed, views, or adventures that make your stomach flip, then the XLine is a must-do.
Dubai does everything big, bold, and dramatic — and this zipline fits right in.
Until next time… travel far.
